About Jagruti's Rehabilitation Centre in Mumbai

Written & Medically Reviewed By: Dr. Nimisha H Nair, Consultant Psychiatrist (MBBS, DPM Psychiatry), with over 7+ years of experience
Last Updated: 27 July 2026

For over 18 years, Jagruti has stood by individuals and families across India, and Mumbai has been part of that journey since 2022. Today, we operate a dedicated rehabilitation centre in Malad East, making professional addiction and mental health support more accessible to families across the city. Our Malad East centre on Manchubhai Road, near the railway station and Malad Subway, has been helping families for over four years.

The location was chosen with care, close enough to the Western Line for families to visit without a full-day journey, yet set back from the main road to provide the calm and privacy that recovery demands.

The centre has 55 inpatient beds, spread across carefully designed rooms that prioritise comfort and dignity. It features dedicated detox rooms, individual and group therapy spaces, a dining area, and common spaces where patients can begin to rebuild their daily routines in a familiar and welcoming setting.

Our team includes 7+ specialist doctors with psychiatrists, psychologists, and addiction counsellors who work on-site daily. This is not a centre where a psychiatrist visits twice a week and leaves decisions to junior staff. The doctors here know each patient's history, and they are present when medical decisions need to be made.

We treat addiction and mental health together, not as separate problems. Many patients arrive with both a substance use disorder and an undiagnosed mental health condition that has been driving the addiction for years. At Jagruti, both are addressed by the same psychiatric team.

Help is one call away. Speak with our specialists today.

Looking for a Rehabilitation Centre in Mumbai?

If you are searching for a rehabilitation centre in Mumbai, you are probably carrying a heavy weight. For some families, this is the first time they have looked for help. For others, it is not their first attempt as they have already called a few places and been disappointed. Perhaps you spoke to someone who promised results in a week.

Here is what families in Mumbai appreciate most about Jagruti.

On-site Medical Detox

Withdrawal is where many people stumble. Patients go through detox right here at Jagruti, with doctors monitoring them on-site throughout. The same psychiatrist who assesses your loved one on day one oversees their detox throughout. There is no handover between services, no gap where something gets missed. This is what a de-addiction centre in Mumbai should look like where there is continuous care from the first day.

Dual diagnosis is not an afterthought

Many patients who come to us for addiction treatment are also dealing with other underlying mental health conditions. At Jagruti Mumbai, we do not treat the addiction first and then see if there is a mental health condition. We assess both from the beginning. If both are present, they are treated together, by the same team. This is what makes us one of the best rehabilitation centres in Mumbai for complex cases.

Families are part of the process

Weekly family therapy sessions are built into the programme. You receive clinical updates every week. We do not hide behind confidentiality to keep you uninformed. And because the centre is in Malad East and is accessible from Andheri, Borivali, Goregaon, Kandivali, and beyond, so you can visit during scheduled hours without a long journey. These are the aspects families consider when choosing the best rehab centre in Mumbai.

We believe in transparency

We understand that cost is an important factor in your decision. Daily rates at our centre range from ₹4,000 to ₹12,000, determined by the room type you choose and the length of the treatment programme. This package covers medical detox, psychiatrist consultations, counselling sessions, nursing care, meals, and therapeutic activities.

Who we have already helped in Mumbai

We have supported patients from Malad, Andheri, Borivali, Goregaon, Kandivali, Dahisar, Mira Road. Working professionals from the Western Line, business owners, college students, and families who carried the burden alone for years before they called.

Why Families in Mumbai Choose Jagruti

Choosing the right care for a loved one often comes down to one question: will this place treat the whole person or just manage the symptoms? At Jagruti Mumbai, we see addiction and mental health as two sides of the same coin. They have never been separate, and we do not treat them as if they are. Since 2022, our Malad East centre has offered the kind of care that comes from years of experience. Jagruti has been helping people get their lives back for over 18 years. We have supported more than 82,000 individuals across our centres, and every one of them has shaped how we work with families in Mumbai today.

Conditions We Treat at Our Centre

Substance use disorders affect thousands of families across Mumbai every year. The National Survey on Extent and Pattern of Substance Use in India reports that around 14.6% of Indians aged 10-75 years consume alcohol, and Maharashtra remains among the states with a significant burden of substance-related cases, reflecting the growing need for accessible de-addiction services in cities like Mumbai [1].

At our substance abuse treatment centre in Mumbai, we provide a full range of de-addiction treatments for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Each person's history, substance use pattern, and psychological state are assessed before any programme begins.

Addiction & substance abuse treated regularly at our centre:

  • Alcohol addiction
  • Drug addiction (heroin, cocaine, MDMA, and others)
  • Cannabis and marijuana abuse
  • Prescription drug misuse
  • Inhalant addiction
  • Nicotine and tobacco addiction
  • Dual diagnosis (addiction alongside mental illness)
  • Relapse prevention and aftercare programmes

Our other services (mental health and neurological conditions):

Families often come to us focused on stopping the substance use, not realising that untreated mental health conditions are what keeps pulling their loved one back. At Jagruti Mumbai, we look beyond the addiction. Every patient receives a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation so we can identify and treat what is really going on.

Our Treatment Programmes in Mumbai

Every person who walks through our doors is different. Some have been drinking heavily for decades. Others started with prescription pills after surgery and never stopped. At our residential rehabilitation centre in Mumbai, psychiatrists design each programme around the individual, not around a fixed template. The plan we build takes into account the person's current health, how long they have been using substances, and whether they have family support to return to.

icons

Inpatient residential rehabilitation

This programme is available in 30-day, 60-day, or 90-day tracks. The patient stays at the centre full-time throughout their treatment and receives round-the-clock medical and nursing support.
icons

Outpatient programmes

This option is suitable for people who are medically stable, have strong family support, and live within Mumbai. Patients attend therapy sessions during the day and return home in the evening.
icons

Medically supervised detoxification

This typically lasts between 7 and 14 days, depending on the substance involved and the severity of withdrawal symptoms. The entire process is carried out on-site at our centre, not at an outside hospital.
icons

Dual diagnosis treatment

This programme is for patients who have both an addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions. Both conditions are treated in parallel by the same psychiatric team at our addiction treatment centre in Mumbai.
icons

Short-term stabilisation

This is a 7 to 10 day programme designed for crisis management. After this initial phase, patients step down to outpatient care.
icons

Long-term residential care

This programme is designed for patients with repeated relapses or complex co-occurring conditions. The duration is 90 days or more, allowing for deeper, more sustained work on recovery.

The first 48 hours at our Mumbai centre

Most people arrive between 10am and 6pm, usually brought by a family member. Here is what happens next.

Day one, the first two hours

When you arrive, our admission coordinator and a nurse will check basic vitals like blood pressure and pulse. The on-call psychiatrist will then meet with your loved one for a brief assessment. This is not a full diagnosis yet, but it helps us determine whether medical detox needs to begin immediately. Families are asked to stay during this time. A simple consent form is signed before we proceed. This is the first step towards healing at our rehab in Mumbai.

Day one, evening

The patient is shown to their room. Depending on availability and clinical need, this could be a shared room or a single room. Dinner is served in the common dining area, where patients begin to experience the structure of daily life at the centre. The nursing team does a second round of observations in the evening. If the patient is withdrawing from alcohol or benzodiazepines, medication is given by 9pm. Before leaving for the day, the psychiatrist reviews the plan and ensures everything is on track.

Day two, morning

A full physical and psychiatric assessment is completed by late morning. Blood work is sent to a local lab if needed. The patient meets their primary counsellor for the first time, a 30-minute conversation that is more about building trust than starting therapy. Family members receive both a verbal update and a written summary of the assessment findings.

Day two, afternoon and evening

The patient attends their first group session, which covers orientation and basic psychoeducation. If withdrawal symptoms appear, medication is adjusted accordingly. By the end of the day, the family receives a personalised treatment plan that includes the estimated duration of the programme, the therapy schedule, and the days set aside for family visits.

How to start admission

Anyone can call our Mumbai admission team at +91 9822207761 (24x7 available). Our team will ask a few basic questions. If admission is decided, the patient can come directly to our rehab centre in Mumbai in Malad East.

Aftercare & Follow-up in Mumbai

Recovery does not stop when someone walks out of our centre. It continues at home, in daily life, and in the small moments that follow. That is why we stay involved long after discharge.

Before discharge: What you can expect

Every patient leaves our Mumbai centre with a personalised relapse prevention plan. This is not a generic document. It is built around their specific triggers, their support system, and the challenges they are most likely to face.

Follow-up calls

Our team makes follow-up calls at 30, 60, and 90 days after discharge. These calls are not just formalities. We check in on medication, look for early signs of trouble, and make adjustments to the plan if something is not working. Families can reach the same clinical team during this period without having to start over with someone new.

Continued outpatient support

For those who need continued support, we offer outpatient services at our addiction recovery centre in Mumbai. Patients can continue individual therapy and see their psychiatrist regularly. If a family prefers to work with a counsellor closer to their home, we coordinate with external professionals to ensure a smooth transition.

Recovery support groups in Mumbai

Mumbai also has a strong recovery community that many of our patients find invaluable. Alcoholics Anonymous has more than 3,000 members in the city, with meetings held regularly across the suburbs [2]. Narcotics Anonymous also runs meetings in South Mumbai and other areas [3]. These groups are free, peer-led, and offer the kind of ongoing fellowship that helps people stay on track. Many of our discharged patients attend them every week.

Our rehabilitation centre in Mumbai does not close its doors after your loved one is discharged.

Rehabilitation in Mumbai

Mumbai is a city that never stops. The pressure to keep up with work, rent, and expectations is relentless. In a city of over 20 million people, it is easy to feel invisible even in a crowd. These conditions often lead to addiction and mental health decline.

Maharashtra has one of the highest rates of alcohol consumption in India. A large longitudinal study involving over 35,000 men in Mumbai found that alcohol consumption increased the overall risk of mortality by 22%, with the highest risk observed for liver disease (HR = 3.19). The study also reported that the risk of death increased with greater alcohol consumption [4]. This shows that the scale of the problem is immense, and the need for accessible, professional rehabilitation services has never been greater.

Mumbai has several government-run de-addiction options. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) runs de-addiction centres that have treated thousands of patients over the years [5]. KEM Hospital has been operating a free de-addiction centre for over 30 years [6]. The Maharashtra government has also directed municipal hospitals to reserve beds for addiction treatment.

However, public facilities are often overcrowded. Waiting lists for residential beds can stretch for weeks. For families facing an urgent crisis, that wait is simply not an option. This is why a reliable private rehab centre in Mumbai matters. At Jagruti, we understand that waiting is not an option when a loved one needs help. That is why we offer immediate admission, medical detox, dual diagnosis treatment, and 24/7 psychiatric support.

Frequently Asked Questions

A rehabilitation centre is a place where people receive professional care to recover from addiction and mental health conditions. At Jagruti Mumbai, we go beyond just stopping substance use. We understand what is really going on and the deeper struggles that may have been there for years. Our approach includes medical detox, counselling, and therapy. We help people regain stability and move forward.
Anyone struggling with substance use or mental health challenges is eligible for rehabilitation. At Jagruti Mumbai, we treat people with alcohol addiction, drug addiction, and co-occurring mental health conditions. Our patients include working professionals, college students, business owners, and homemakers. If addiction or mental health is affecting your loved one's life, work, or relationships, rehabilitation may be the right step.
Families searching for the best de-addiction centre in Mumbai often look for integrated care that treats both addiction and mental health. At Jagruti, we treat addiction and mental health together because we know they are deeply connected. Our psychiatrists work on-site every day, ensuring consistent care. We have been supporting families in Mumbai since 2022. Our Google reviews from families across the city speak to the quality of care we provide.
Our expertise covers a wide range of substance use disorders including alcohol, opioids like heroin, stimulants like cocaine and MDMA, cannabis, prescription medications, inhalants, and nicotine. We also treat people who have both addiction and a mental health condition. This is what we call dual diagnosis, and it requires a different kind of care.
Monthly treatment costs at our Malad East centre range from ₹80,000 to ₹2,00,000, depending on the room type and programme duration. This amount covers medical detox, psychiatrist consultations, counselling, nursing care, meals, and therapeutic activities. A complete written estimate is provided before admission.
We offer residential programmes that run for 30 days, 60 days, or 90 days. For patients who need immediate crisis management, we also provide a short-term stabilisation option that lasts between 7 and 10 days. After this, patients step down to outpatient care. The clinical team recommends the right duration after completing the full assessment on day two. Patients with repeated relapses or complex dual diagnosis often benefit from longer stays of 60 to 90 days.
Call +91 9822207761 - our night coordinator is there to take your call. Based on your answers, we will either direct you to come directly to our Malad East centre or advise a nearby hospital for stabilisation first.
Please bring identity proof for the patient (Aadhaar, voter ID, or passport), medical records from any previous treatment, and a list of current medications with dosages. Pack comfortable clothes, toiletries, and slippers. Mobile phones are allowed but will be kept safely during detox and returned for scheduled calls. Do not bring substances, sharp objects, or outside food. Following this list will help ensure a smooth admission at our de-addiction centre in Mumbai.
Our Malad East centre has 55 inpatient beds. We rarely have waiting lists longer than 48 hours. If a bed is unavailable, we will provide an estimated admission date and maintain contact daily until a bed is confirmed. In the meantime, if you need immediate admission, we can help you get admitted at one of our Thane or Navi Mumbai centres.
We regularly admit patients from across Mumbai and nearby areas including Malad, Andheri, Borivali, Goregaon, Kandivali, and Dahisar. We also welcome families from Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar, Kalyan-Dombivli, Bhiwandi, and Ulhasnagar.
All clinical and support staff speak Hindi, Marathi, and English. Families who are more comfortable in Marathi or Hindi can have every conversation from admission to therapy sessions in their preferred language.
The four main types of rehabilitation are physical, occupational, speech and language, and psychological rehabilitation. Physical rehab focuses on restoring movement and strength after injury or illness. Occupational rehab helps people regain daily living skills such as dressing, cooking, and working. Speech and language rehab addresses communication difficulties and swallowing disorders. Psychological rehab supports mental health, emotional well-being, and social relationships. At Jagruti Mumbai, our focus is on addiction recovery and mental health. We treat substance use disorders and the mental health conditions that often drive them, together in one integrated programme.
Before discharge, you and your loved one will receive a personalised relapse prevention plan. This plan outlines what to watch for and how to respond if warning signs appear. Our team will call you at 30, 60, and 90 days after discharge. These calls are an opportunity for you to discuss any concerns, ask questions, and get guidance on medication or any challenges you are noticing. You can also reach the same clinical team during this period whenever you need support. If you notice any warning signs, call us immediately. We are here to help you navigate this phase and adjust the recovery plan if needed.
Yes, we understand that addiction and recovery affect the whole family. That is why we offer family counselling for up to three months after discharge at our Malad East centre. Families who stay engaged in counselling during this time see much better outcomes and lower relapse rates. We are here to support you as much as we support your loved one. These factors truly matter when choosing the best rehab in Mumbai.
Relapse is a sign that the recovery plan needs to be adjusted. It is not a reason to lose hope. If this happens, families can call our 24-hour admission line directly. For patients who have completed our programme before, we offer rapid re-admission, often within 24 hours. We will create a focused plan that addresses what triggered the relapse and helps bring recovery back on track.
